Not Always Easy

Paul has just turned seventeen and got a car, so now he gathers together all his courage and uses his new freedom to go to a meeting of the local Gay and Lesbian Youth Group. There he meets all sorts of new people, some nice, some very nice, and some not-so-nice, and as a result of that he has some adventures and some misadventures. A whole new aspect of Paul's life opens up and he begins to experience new emotions and new types of friendships. He tries to keep this new life secret from his family and straight friends, but what will happen when the two parts of his life collide? Perhaps he will eventually learn about love and the true meaning of friendship.

Tough Question

'Do you love me?' - Superficially that may seem like a simple and relatively innocuous question. When Ian is fourteen love seems mysterious, but not too complex and when he is sixteen and encounters that question for the first time the answer seems blindingly obvious. As the years pass by he progresses from being a schoolboy to being a university graduate and that question arises again and again. Each time the answer becomes more and more difficult, and the answers he gives create more and more complications. Eventually, he's not so sure about love any more and he grows to realise that 'Do you love me?' can be a really tough question.

The Short Stories

Perspective

Adam remembers the the experiences, both good and bad, that he shared with his brother, Brian, during their troubled childhood. Some of his childhood memories are still crystal clear but others, like islands in a misty sea, had become hazy with distance and distorted by the fog of emotion. Events which had seemed significant to him might have been trivial to others, and even a brother who experienced the same childhood events would have his memories coloured by his own subjective viewpoint. Despite that, perhaps Brian can help Adam to get some perspective on his past.

Just Visiting

It's Terry's first day at University and he's persuaded to go for a free lunch at the Catholic Chaplaincy. While eating as quickly as possible so that he can make a rapid exit, he sees Andrew, very ordinary looking young man who appears to be a member of what Terry thinks of as the 'God Squad'. At first Terry is completely uninterested, but then Andrew smiles, and although the smile isn't directed at him, Terry's heart is lost. How far is Terry prepared to go in order to try to get acquainted with Andrew, and even if he succeeds what chance is there that a member of the 'God Squad' can share his feelings? Maybe the lunch won't be so free after all, and maybe the price will be a broken heart.
